Jay,
I see a pattern in your post that have nothing to do with martial arts. High school for me took forever. Every day was an eternity but when I graduated time started to fly. You start to worry about differnet things and what bothered you in hs doesn't matter anymore. Don't worry so much about what people think. No one is watching you dance at the club and no one thinks less of you if you gas in the ring, and if they do then so what. People have their own worries and think less often of others than you think. As for me I still gas at bjj practice everyday but am getting better, and after 4 weeks snuck an armbar on a guy for my ony sub. It doesn't matter. I'm there for me and my enjoyment and if I don't enjoy it I'll quit and do something else, like fish more. The fact you are doing something and have the means to do it give you a good start in life. I came from a small town and just had whatever brawls I could get into for training, but then thats not really training is it. if this is giving you that much grief then quit and find something you like. I think you like it so if you are looking for reassurance, YOU CAN DO IT!

I know it sounds weird, but ringworm is common in bjj & wrestling. Some decent cream/spray & a couple of weeks off the mats & it's usually gone.Originally posted by jaymackz View PostIs it a smart idea to get a tight fit..or a loose fit...and getting ringworm from bjj seems a little odd....
Here in the UK, we have to have new passports every ten years, and my ex ended up with ringworm on her nose the day before the passport photo was to be taken. I was not popular

I would recommend tight fit, and Under Armour shirts work GREAT for grappling, however, if you don't want to dish out the $40 for one, go down to walmart or target and get the generic Champion tight fit shirt... it is the same material, same construction and mine has lasted me well over 300 hours on the mat for only $10.... can't beat that....

Also reduces the chances of picking up/spreading ringworm or impetigo etc.

I don't know about underarmour, because I've never seen it, but a rashguard can be bought at any surfing/swimming type store. It's basically a long-sleeved shirt made out of swimmers material. It's called a rashguard because it stops surfers getting a rash on their chest/inner biceps when paddling a surfboard, but it's perfect for BJJ - if you wear it under your gi, you won't get a rash from having the gi pressed and twisted against your skin, and for no-gi, it makes you slippery and difficult to grab.

that sounds great! haha...also..as for this "rashguard"..i recently bought an "under-armour" its a type of fabric type clothing...that supposedly wicks the sweat off of you or something when it is heat activated in whatever sport you do...whats the difference and where can i buy it at a retail store?Originally posted by NYBJJ View PostNot only that.. but BJJ will definately help with your conditioning...
