I appreciate that your question is about Sambo, which I can't help you on, however I must point out that you are on the doorstep of one of the best grapplers in the world right now.

Braulio Estima teaches out of Gracie Barra Birmingham. If you are looking for world class grappling instruction, you can't do much better.

    Just my advice.

lol yes i am aware, BJJ i'm also going to study but under victor estima hopefully. My striking is good and the ground game clearly warrents BJJ however i was just interested in sambo. I don't think any clubs are close to brum.

For BJJ how do you rate their 'wrestling' ability, i know on the ground they are world class but in the clinch and takedown's i haven't seen much in BJJ so i'm not too sure on their skill. Do they teach judo throws?

I'll be honest, I'm not a grappler, I've trained enough BJJ and CSW over the years to make sure I don't get handed my arse, but its not my game.

There are some very knowledgable grapplers on here who will hopefully pitch in for you

there are no sambo clubs which i know off. Braulio Estima teaches BJJ at Steve B's in Acocks Green, however it is a bit pricey. There is a MMA club in Walsall, and a few Judo clubs in the area. I recommend the 3K's in Smethwick, Neil Adams Judo club in Coventry and Lordswood Budokan in Harbourne, on the Hagley Road.

Regarding Braulio's throwing and clinch ability, i know he used to study Judo so suspect his throws are pretty good. Ive done a few no gi sessions there and would like to continue my training with him, but like i said, its a bit pricey.
