In Canada, there are very strict circumstances for when you can use force to defend yourself, and someone making fun of you is not one of them.

Getting charged with criminal assault (with causing bodily harm added if you're a decent martial artist, manslaughter if you hit him and by some freak accident he dies, or even 2nd degree murder if the Crown thinks you intended to kill (and that carries a MINIMUM 10 year sentence)) is no picnic.

Getting sued for assault (for merely THREATENING) and battery (folowing through) is a possibility too.

Totally not worth it.

Yeah, so i was at a dance last night and some guys were making fun of me and my friend, so I went over and tapped the guy on the shoulder and told him we could take it outside, next thing you know the guy has about ten of his buddies with him
I could have easily takin him, he was one of those thugs who think they are everything, and i have done lots of martial arts and fights , but what the **** is up with having like ten guys jump me after?

Hey! violence is left as a last resort. When you can't avoid the situation or escape the situation, then you can use violence against your fellow man. You don't just pop someone because they are verbaly teasing you. You leave.

Along with practicing your MA try practicing keeping your pride in check so it doesn't take you down roads you can't turn back.

Here's a little advice. The moment you put your hands on someone you are responsible for whatever happens to that person lawfully. So I suggest you have a better reason besides, "He was making fun of me" that made you decide it was necessary to drill him in the face.
