Yeah, Takeda died in 1573 and his heir lost an ill-considered clash with Oda Nobunaga after which the clan's domain was dissolved 20 years or so before Sekigahara. Although Ieyasu did borrow heavily from Takeda's administrative system when he finally unified the country after Sekigahara and the Osaka Summer and Winter campaigns. Definately one of the most interesting figures in Japanese history.

Yep sorry I was thinking of Ii Naomasa who lead them. He was a retainer of Tokogawa.Originally posted by jubaji View PostOh no, he died long before Sekigahara.

So anyway, been on something of a samurai drama marathon here. Hojo Tokimune was a good one, now watching one about Tokugawa Ieyasu. Next up: Takeda Shingen, Musashi, or Shinsengumi. Not sure which yet.

Speaking of gay samurai, where's Samurai guy...jk. I guess he's probably in his 2nd or 3rd year of college, gotten some stead play and is busy with his homework.
And after a full day of running, classroom work, some considerable work on the O-course and demopit run I'm out...zzzzzz
Good night!

Of course. many people of high status were gay.Originally posted by GQchris View PostGay Samurai? say it ain't so..
The Edo period had the Samurai face a lot of struggles, even socially that their martial art/warrior training could not best provide. You have a warrior trying to adapt to their biggest struggle; modern transition and peace.Originally posted by jubaji View PostSo, speaking of the Samurai:
What (real) Samurai, or period of history within which they lived, is your favorite subject of study and/or inspiration?
