  • Can we get a Street/self defence sub forum?

The reason I am asking... is because this is supposed to be the MMA/bjj forum... where we discuss those things.... it shouldnt be.. MMA/BJJ vs street fighting or self defense... which is what 90% of the threads seem to be...

now I did a quick look at all the threads (at 6:07 PM Eastern Standard Time) on the first pages of JKD/Thai Boxing/ Kali phillipino etc/Boxing subforums and not one thread on all these pages had the word street in the title... the third thread on the top of the mma/bjj forum had the word street in it...

im sure a few of them dealt with street fighting, or self defense... but not one had street in the title...

I'm tired of seeing all the TMA/RBSD people come to the MMA forum and start threads about streetfighting, or why MMA is ineffective in street fights.. or any type of that shit....

This is why I propose a new self defense/street sub forum... so in the MMA/BJJ forum we can discuss MMA/BJJ...

That's a great idea. it might allow the streetfighters the ability to discuss thier various techniques for ripping off nutsacks and eye poking...or 3 stooges style as I like to call it.

A forum dedicated to the street is overkill. The street can be sumed up in pararagraphs not threads. 1)Avoid conflict at all times. 2) There is no such thing as a fair fight. 3) Always use a weapon, the hands and feet are a last resort. on the street ANYTHING can be a weapon, including the midget standing next to you. Think about it ...a small dog on a leash IS a flexible weapon!

BoarSpear, you said it might be overkill to have a street forum... well if it is... can all the people arguing about training for the street, or how street self defense is better than this or that... or how simply kicking someone in the nuts is the ultimate inpenetrable defense...

For instance, in the BJJ/MMA forum... the thread... "aikido"

"well i like to hear yours oppinion on aikido.

i've heard it is hard style to learn and takes tremendes time an devotion to get good at it, is this correct?

would aikido work in a streetfight?"

Thats the first post... now... do you see anything in there about MMA/BJJ... no.. you see Aikidio and street....

so first of all why is Aikido not being asked about in the japanese forum... where people are more knowledgeable about Aikidio....

second of all.... this question should only be in the MMA/BJJ forum if the question is.. "would aikido work for MMA"... or ... "would Aikido be a good substitute for BJJ" or something along those lines.....

You wont see this type of thread in the boxing forum, or in the phillipino forum... so why us?

"Hey, uhh... boxers.... yeah... boxers.. who box... tell me about wushu... I heard its good stuff, Jet Li does it..."

You dont get shit like that..... in the other forums...

Maybe it should be more in the vein of Self Protection, rather than merely street fighting.

Then why is every other thread about it? If you can get people to shut up about it then more power to you.

On the other hand a "what if" forum for survival might be interesting. This could cover any valid scenario you or we as a people might face. Armed intruders to armed carjackers or robbers. Road rage scenarios etc. A forum dedicated to those few rare times when the outcome of a situation is death if you dont step up and do something about it. Maybe a "Street Sense" format.

While a... what if .. type forum wouldnt be bad... I think that would still leave people asking if Aikido is good for streetfighting in this forum.... or things along those lines... although im not sure, people may post... street questions in there... they post em in here so why not over there....

and its meant to be self protection/self defense... not a street fighting forum as Thai Bri said.....

however it would cover all the "is this good for the street" questions...

or.... "bjj isnt good for the street"... "mma guys will get killed in the street"

                      type threads...

If you would like it you can email Tim Mousel and ask him for it. Be patient though as Tim is busy and may not respond right away.
