I am doing a bit of shadow boxing and my elbo seems to pull out of it socket, well thats what it feels like. I think it is because i need to worm up before but i would not have a clue how to warm your elbow up!! any suggestions of how i can "Warm my elbow up"? thanx

Could possibly be tennis elbow, if so supports could make it more comfortable.

You might have dislodged the W ligament from your elbo.

In all seriousness, it sounds to me like you have hyperextended your elbow, probably on a jab punch or slowly over a series of jabs. It usually doesn't happen with hooks/uppercuts because the arm stays bent, but when you throw a straight jab out, you can hyperextend the joint just a little bit.

It happens to some people when they start karate, and it comes from putting too much force into the forward push of the punch. It usually happens with shadow boxing, or the famous karate against the air. If you're actually hitting something, you don't overextend your arm because the target prevents that.

The best thing for it is to rest it. Take a week off from boxing alltogether and see how it feels after that. If necessary, take another week off.

When you go back to boxing, do 2 things. 1. Get someone to hold some mitts for you or get a bag, and punch that, not the air. and 2. if you're shadow boxing, make sure you never jab out till your arm is straight - keep a little bit of bend in there.
