i am 16 years old and have recently started boxing after searching for almost 2 years for a club, is it too late for me to start with the hope of doing well and perhaps becoming a professional, knowing that i am a late starter is a bit of a kick in the confidence area and although i have been interested in the sport for a long time i have only just started to learn how to fight properly, is there much hope for me.

16 is nowhere near too late. You're still young and most guys get started right around your age anyways. With the right attitude and training you could be successful. The game is about heart dude and if you want it you will do what it takes to get there and that means training strong. Don't just hit the bags. Training never ends. Condition your body and your mind and in a couple of years you could be a rock. I wish you success.

Whats With The Question Kiddo
why ask if your too old at 16 yrs old???
1) either you have no intelligence
2) you want attention of some sort
anyone and everyone in the world fucking knows that 16 is well young to be starting any field of endeavour whatsoever, sports/martial arts/academic..
i started at 38 (now 39) and give a pro boxer aged 21 a very serious workout indeed when sparring.......GO FIGURE KID

I don't know if you realize but he is a kid and questions like that are normal. He just wanted to know if he could start training now and be able to reach a pro level while he is still young. I think you need to get in touch with your inner child or somethin. You got issues to be pickin on a 16 year old kid who asked a genuine question. I would rather he ask a question like this than sit there and spit off a bunch of bull about stuff he has no experience in. If you want to pick on young punks then channel your energy towards hand2hand.

Hey HuSanYan, when I was 15 and started martial arts, I myself wondered if I was too old at the time. To a 15 or 16 year-old, 15 or 16 almost seems like an adult. Only when you get to 20 do you see how young that is. Then you get to 25 and see how young 20 is. Then you get to 30 and see how 25 is. Then you get to 50 and wish you were 30. So get a grip.

Good to see that it wasn't just me who thought that was the wrong way to go about responding to a question. A forum is meant to help get opinions and gather information to better yourself and your skills. Now, in any event I think the it might be best to get back on topic for the sake of danrogers29 and his question. Dan you are more the welcome to ask any question you may have, the only bad question is the question that is not asked. I am sorry that there are people on this forum who feel they must try to rip somone apart in order to get some attention. In my short time here I have found that 99.9% of the people on the forum are really cool and all want to help and be helped.

husanyan the question i asked was genuine, i hav been interested in boxing for a while though i have just started, and i hav noticed that so many professionals that are any good seemed to have started from an early and more impressionable age, i simply posted the question because i wanted to know if i am seen as a late starter or wat, thanks everyone else for seeing it from my point and sticking up for me. does anybody have some good ideas for what i should be do[ing for training as i am unsure whether it sh[ould be everyday or every otherday or what. and if husanyan dont like that question then dont f***ing answer it
