  • Female Boxer dies in amature boxing wtf???

People dieing in pro boxing is rare 700 people in 100 years. But dieing in amature boxing is even rarer, after all whats the point of head gear then?
She must of had some preexisting brain thing, or some people are more suciptable to brain injury or just aren't wireed right to take blows to the head.Getting hit in the head even with head gear probably isn't the greatest thing for ones brain but fighting is fun and it's a risk you take. If every amature fighter who has had their noggin smacked around in sparring or in amature fights (much less pro fights) developed brain damage/trauma then every body I know from training/sparring with would have long since dropped dead. I don't personally know any fighter with brain damage/trauma.One thing that needs to chang in fighting is the lack of defensive skills like the guys in the good ol' days used to posess, just because you can get hit doesn't mean you should get hit, you'll last longer in your amature or pro career if you have good defensive skills. Some peoples only fighting attribute/talent is that they can take unlimited punches to the head but I think they'll pay a price in the long run. I read a study one time that said the majority of brain damage fighters aquire acctually happens in sparring and not in the ring. If that 's true then that's totally sucks because even people who don't want to fight but want to realistically train for self defense could get possible damage by doing hard to full contact sparring. How then does one train for self defense? if you can't handel getting hit by 14,16,or 18 oz sparring gloves with proper boxing head gear,(I sparred without it before on more than a few ocasions, but don't give me the lecture) you sure as hell will have trouble when someone's bare fist comes smashing into your nose, jaw or face.
    what do you guys think?
