  • What kind of jab would you use in a street fight?

for me I'd only use a single power jab not a double jab or a speed jab here's why; i want my jab to go into his nose and snapp his head back so it will distract him long enough to allow me to fire off my cross or overhand to his face i.e. nose or point of chin, add a hook to the jaw for good measure.
What kind of jab would you guys use or as some would suggest a jab shouldn't be used in a streeet fight what do you think?

I'm a smaller guy, so I'd have more of a quick snappy jab, to guage distance and to stun him (if for a second). Then from there move into the next rythem of whatever is available.

Definitely the power jab; earn that respect - do some damage.

In a street fight do you think it will be long enough for someone to learn to respect your jab.

In boxing, I can see it working, the guy would have to watch for your jab or be set up for any number of combinations, plus getting jabbed isnt all that fun.

But in a street fight, although I think the power jab woudl probably be the best, I think you would really only use one, then close the distance.

I really dont think there would be time to establish the jab and make him respect it.

I'd used what they call the "SHOTGUN JAB"

one jab would be about it then the cross, then hook and elbow city/clinching/headbutt the shit out of him(1 of my faves)then biting the the vocal cords /throat i.e. what vandam did in the movie "in hell"
btw which do you think is more effective in a street fight, hooks or elbows?

              Whichever lands?

Depends on the situation I guess, if they are covering the front of their face the hook, if they block the sides elbows, Id probably go with elbows though.

Then again, if they are covering the sides why not just jab and cross and uppercut? If they cover the front I think elbows would be more effective than if they covered the sides. But there is more than one tool for this job, so it's all a possibility.

One hard jab with weight behind it and snap power (without gloves) could break a nose, water the eyes or remove teeth and daze the heck out of your opponent.

If its timed to where the guy is rushing in and he meets your jab, the fight could be over quick.

For the record, this was not a sarcastic remark; I heard the announcer use the term on Friday Night fights. Ha Ha Ha ( It was either espn, showtime or HBO, I wanna say Tony Atlus, but I'm not 100% sure who said it.)

My jab is garbage. Don't get me wrong, I've put it out there and had more than one guy walk straight into it but if I throw a jab it's usually to measure, distract or set up something else...
