have you tried TWC with boxing gloves on? I imagine it would not be the same. Also, I feel that much of what is taught would be lost on someone that is not allowed to use their legs at all. I'm sure there are theorys that could help a boxers development, but I seriously doubt there have ever been any great boxers with a TWC background.

TWC with boxing gloves isnt really effective because the TWC punch is short and with a boxing glove its hard to get momentum and speed with it, so usually it turns out to be more of a push, we do however train with boxing gloves but we also use L hooks and uppercuts. the blocks are verrrrry limited the only thing i am able to pull off effectively is pak-sao, lop-sao and bil-sao. The movements haveto be alot bigger with gloves so that the hands dont get tangled up and jammed, so the only reason I train with gloves is to add weight and develope indurance while bag training. Also helps to develope speed, because when you take those gloves off after a few hours of workign in them, your hands feel almost twice as fast, at least mine do. TWC is mainly hands, but yes, kicks are also an important aspect of the style ,so no allowing kicks would definately put you at a disadvantage. If i were to enter any serious competition on day, i would definatately pick no-holds barred, because they have really small and light gloves with fingers sticking out, so it would be alot more effective than the 14-16 ounce gloves. TWC works alot better withought any gloves at all because you can get that snap with the punch. Alot of blocks especially ones that involve rotations of the wrists are impossible with gloves onhttp://defend.net/deluxeforums/images/icons/icon9.gif

Traditional Wing Chun. I dont belive its actually traditional, i think the so called modified stuff is more traditional than TWC, but after looking what the Ving-tsun/wing tsun guys do id rather pick TWC, to me it makes more sence the footwork is more balanced, and it helps you get to the blind side faster.

it may take awhile to get there they are based in oregon I think, when I ordered a year ago they could barely keep the dvd 's on the shelves but now it should be no prob, if you have a cc you can order off the net or by phone RODNEY KINGS STREET BOXING SERIES IS THE SHIT you can find it in other s.b.g.i. adds in m.a. mags, the only striking dvd I feel is actually worth the money.
