I know that you parry a jab with your rear hand. In fact...it is my favorite thing to do. I love to parry a jab and come up under their jab with my own followed by a cross and then walk down my opponent. What I dont know is what hand you parry a cross with. I have seen people do it with the lead hand, but in the book i was just reading, it sad to parry a cross with the rear hand as well. Is this true? Does it matter what hand you choose? I would really like to hear your experiences with these.

It depends on where you want to go next. For example rear parry if you want to stay inside, lead parry if you want to stay outside. Thing is it also depends on what you want to counter with e.g. jab or cross or whatever. You can parry the jab with either as well. Again it depends on where you want to go and what you want to use next. Just be careful though as going inside can be very dangerous.

I dont understand that. It seems that you would want to use the hand that leads you in the direction you are going. If you want to go left...parry with the left and then move left. If you want to go right...then parry with the right and then move right. Wouldnt this make more sense? I thank you very much for your input, but can you elaborate on why one should do the opposite of this. If I am misunderstanding, then I am sorry, but please correct my perception.

Sorry i wasn't clear enough. That part is about parrying the cross. If you think about it, parrying the cross is the opposite of parrying the jab (in terms of where you want to go), you just use the other hand.

....that doesn't seem very clear either, does it. Sorry.

Hahaha...its a little confusing, but I am also a little dense I suppose. Thanks for trying though. I really appreciate it. I suppose I need to figure out a better way of asking.

(If this doesnt work...then lets all give up)

          QUESTION #2
If I am right handed...I am moving right and he throws a cross...would I use my left or right hand to parry?

Again I am sorry for waisting your time.
