  • I only have one good eye.

Do you think sparring in boxing or actually fighting would be a good idea. what are the chances of me getting my eye injured?

Well this is only an opinion, if it its permanently damaged just fight hell if you can't do the things that you wanna do whats the point >< Don't take my word on this but if i was in your position I'd fight/spar.

          well

There was this guy I was in basic training with that had a lazy eye I think everyone nick named him popeye and he was a good guy, the drill sarges used to say to him "are you eyeballing me boy" I use to spar with a guy who had only one eye and a glass eye one day someone kicked his glass eye out then after he wore a face cage to spar but no matter what his depth perception was zip on his bad side.Props to him for doing it

Ask an eye doctor. Do not seek medical advice on random forums.

                    Agreed......

Besides, who wants to get into a fight with a pre-condition as this?

                    Avoidance is a must

Better leave it at home just to be safe.

                        "Gypsy" Joe Harris

"Gypsy" Joe Harris was an excellent fighter who happened to be blind in one eye....Just a little historic insight on the subject
I'm not saying you should fight, just pointing out that it can be done....

Sparring only allows you to practice your self defense skills. If you take up a martial art like JKD or Krav Magra you can still use your boxing skills. You need to learn kicking and grappling.

Believe me, the bad guys are not going to let you use one eye as an excuse out of a arse whooping. Be prepared, become a martial artist. No sports commission in the United States is going to give you a liscence to box--if you are blind in one eye.

Keep in mind, if you injure your only good eye, then you become Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder. It's no joke, nothing to fool around with.

Boxing with one eye is a gallant thought but not very wise.
Yeah, dont get onto sport-competition without seeking the advice of a doctor.

Not all self defense should be taken as fight or die.......there are legalities in the social order.

IF you want combat, you'll NEED a lawyer!

Judo will train blind students and some of them are damn good fighters!

Throwing and grappling can be done with your eyes closed. Boxing, not so much!
