Can't say I've heard of that book but blinding your attacker is a common strategy in the MA, is it not?

Agreed. There is a great deal of satisfaction in evading the attack...

That is one of the great secrets of Jujutsu. Tai sabaki(?)...moving your body out of the way.

Man I lived and been in raw areas of two major cities-New orleans and Atlanta.

You need to read what I had stated thoroughly...

Not all self defense should be taken as fight or die.......there are legalities in the social order.

Yes, I can understand and given same respect to what you are saying. I am not saying that one should take self defense or defending themself likely. One, if they have a degree of skill, doesnt have to result to excessive force or tactics (pending situation) that can cause legal ramifications.

Yes, you're right-I don't think, from my point of view-no pun intended, that a eye condition should be taken seriously.

i wouldnt agree with boxing with one eye, there's a reason why boxers retire when they loose some or all function in one eye. take care of yourself and try to just spar, but as in a real match, i wouldnt suggest it. i mean i wouldnt want to lose both eyes and end up completely screwed

just kidding man cheer up!dont let a handicap get in your way ..try to make up for it..i know this sux but you're gonna have to try harder than the others..all the time! But when you make it as a good boxer,or as a martial artist..you will then earn everyone's respect because overcomming that handicap and still be able to do what ''normal'' people do (sorry i dont mean to hurt u but u must face it)well that makes you one hell of a fighter

what's with you guys discouraging him??..i say if boxing is what he wants to do and he's ready to face the obstacles then the hell with it boxing the man will do!

It's hard but can be done

I'm completely blind in my right eye have been all my life. I took up Muay Thai kickboxing 5 years ago and have been to Thailand twice to train. Before that I took up boxing for 2 years, never competed always did light sparing with face cage!!!! I would not advise competing as you have too much to lose, even if you are good no one is going to allow in a ring for an official match. You can box, I do light sparing just as I learned from the Thai's which in the long run you are less likely to get a serious eye injury but you always must use caution and common sense in whatever you choose especially kickboxing or boxing any martial art because you do have a disadvantage but don't let that stop you work harder.
