Why did most boxers wear old scoll bag gloves nopaddding hard on the wristS when fight gloves were available if htey were a pro would not the one time outlay of money be worth saving there hands thus extending there careers I know foe a fact pictures that some of the top gouy did use fight glove on the heavy bag but why not others btw does anyone have a bobxing book printed in the 1800s that talks about going out for walks as exercis and drink an ale and how to ewwork the ball. ect. I was by a champ here in the U.S. I thinki got it at the libray then it was gone hte next time someone probably stol it because it was a good book.

I agree with Mike. I am only concerned with wrapping my wrist and not my knuckles. I know you get the old argument that you will have artritis and carpel tunnel in your hands but I say, what the hell--secretaries get that from typing it just a fact of getting old. In my twenties I used to beat my fist in sand, in my thirties I beat my fist on makawari boards, now in my fifties I dont feel a thing when I punch. Not bragging, but I can break boards with my bare knuckles without any major injuries or trauma. My knuckles are calloused and hitting the heavy bag in thin gloves just reinforces the power in my fist. I like to call them iron fist and aiming for pressure points triples the force when I need these old 50 year old fist for self defense.

Yep me to, just the wrists and only slightly on the knuckles when i wrap. As for the book i have no idea, but i read this one weird assed book that says you should eat ice cream as part of youir boxing diet... i thought that was real strange...
