  • Conditioning the ribs

Could any of you boxers out there give me some tips on conditioning my ribs to take a good shot without ending up with painful bruised ribs ? Do you just take shots at an increasing velocity until they are toughened up ?
    Any help would be apreciated.

Play pitch and catch with a 50-lb medicine ball.

Personally I think your time would be better spent working your boxing attributes rather than trying to toughen up your ribs. Train keeping your elbows closer to for better protection. Just like it's better to train slipping and bobbing and weaving than trying to toughing up your skull

I've found that striking my head against a heavy bag daily to be very effective for...uhhh...what were we talking about?

            work defense

That question is like, Asking if you can work on toughening yur chin from head shots.....better to work on good defense; drill I have used is letting your sparring partner & you just defend or go a couple rounds where it is all body work & no head shots.

You can't condition the ribs. They can break if hit, full stop. As has been said, work on avoiding getting hit.
