I used to love the Prince, but I think the success went to his head. I understood his outspoken confidence (just like Ali's) and didn't mind a bit.

But he turned into a spoilt brat. Did you see the documentary about his preparation for his last fight? He was too busy posing to train. He sent someone half way round the world to get these goatskin green gloves, and then when his opponent chose his own gloves, he wanted to have those instead. It caused so much trouble that the fight was nearly off.

He booked into an amazingly plush hotel in Vegas but, when he heard their was a room better than his (that was booked) he behaved like a shameful baby, trying to get the manager to throw the other person out and give him the room.

He could behave how he liked, of course, but his team had to conform to strict Muslim rules. If they didn't he sulked like a fool. His own brother was treated like some hired hand, but ended up cleaning up after him.

He then purposefully left his opponent waiting for over half an hour in the ring, again threatening to call the fight off. He insisted on doing some silly speech to the TV audience, and wouldn't fight unless they let him.

I lost all respect for the Prince. He has become like a silly bitch star who has to feel to be getting the biggest and best all the time. He didn't train and he got his arse kicked. I was glad.

Prince Naseem Hamed. Grow up or sod off. Stop behaving like a little girl.

PS - and what did he do after losing? Hid away for 12 months.....

I just think that is style he is as much a showman as he is a boxer.
And you can’t deny the talent he most certainly has. I agree with you comment about him being to busy to pose than to train he did seriously underestimate Barrera (not to down play Barrera though he is a good fighter) but I think the Hamid could have beaten Barrera even with the amount of training he had done, its just the style he used in that particular fight that was wrong (trying to coax Barrera into hitting him then weaving and hitting back .) It was wrong because Barrera was the fastest opponent Naz had been up against (yes I saw the documentary to.)
When you look at Hamid’s character outside of the ring you will see a kind and gentle person he’s kind to his fans (visited one of them in hospital when they had leukaemia) has done countless charity work and is in general a nice guy, infact a family man, obviously he does not want to portray this to his opponents, he choses to show this cocky exterior to try and piss his opponenets off (also in the documentry.)

And as for the hotel fiasco the reason why he wasnt given the penthouse suite was because he doesn't gamble the top rooms are reserved for celebrities who gamble (Islamic law) and because naz doesn't gamble they wouldn't allow him the room.

In fairness to him the Editors of the programme may have gone out of their way to show him in a bad light. I did think he was sanctimonious with his own brother though. And even considering sending someone half way across the world for a pair of goatskin gloves is the kind of thing that gets my goat......

I want to see him fight, though. What beter endorsement of a boxer is that?
