  • i wanna be champ..hehe

I wanna be champ..!!I've been training on my own(yea bad habits) for about 26 days on a wavemaster..oh and to the fellow with the question about it..the only problem i've had is hitting "through" it to hard..the "stem" is a problem..and i put about 5 inches of cardboard under mine and it doesnt move as much..i think im gonna have to "add" some extra padding.....as my wrists are getting hurt...

...my question is how often do i need to hit the thing..i've hit it pretty much everyday for 26 days and i know that is too much...im also lifting weights on a traditional 4 day split routine

.....and another question is...i've been training with my right side forward...and im not a southpaw...my right is just way better than my left ....my right jab seems strong, double even stronger..and my right hook messes up the wavemaster...but ive had the "bad habit" of "switching" sides as i train....is that "legal"or even desirable to do in the ring..??

.....and is anybody reading this that wants to spar...in Gerogia..???

...oh yea i know i need a coach and all that good stuff, but i started punching when i was 5 on a two liter jug hung from a tree..and havent really stopped yet....i've been knocked out in a street fight..and had my nose broke..so im not all too "skeered"of getting hit...i basically think i need a coach and some sparring and ill be the best...but how many times have people said that.....!!!!!.............any advice pros

If your right hand is stronger than left hand then you left hand should be out front. That way your strong hand (right hand) is in back and can be thrown with more force than it would be being out front.

Put your left hand out front and practice that way, might be awkward at first but with training the left hand become most people main weapon.

I understand that reasoning, and i do train both ways...i just yesterday got my lead left hook "feeling comfortable".....and even when i train that way i think it would be more advantageous,to me anyway, to have the strong in front, i can tell there is no way my lead left hook will ever be anything like my lead right hook, but my rear left will be "almost" as stong as my right would be...so im gonna go with that "reasoning"..and i can move better it seems with my right in front..my angles are much better...!!

k man I'll break it down for ya. Plain and simple, find a gym. There is a lot to learn to boxing besides hitting. Are you doing any cardio? Learn your basics, refine them, practice them and then practice everything else. With good technique comes power. I am 155 lbs right now, 5'4". I am planning on competing slightly lower, but I pack a mean punch, due to body mechanics. Plain and simple, find someone to teach you the proper ways of training and doing stuff. You seem to have the ambitiob, just need to have it better applied.

Yea Binski..i've read your posts..you seem to be "applying" yourself...i however have not been..!!....

...im not the biggest of guys(maybe thats good)..im 5'8"maybe 8 1/2...........i dont even know what i weigh now...i have weighed as much as 205 with a 39 inch waist and a 16 inch arm....now im no more than 180 maybe only 175 with a 32 to 33 inch waist and a 14 inch arm....so i've pretty much been in "get rid of the fat" mode...didnt take but a few months my metabolism was always fast i was always skinny and then i started lifting weights and eating way too much and ended up a little "fat"... now that i think i know "how" to lift weights i wanna get up to about 190 and start competing..!!.........

...do i do any cardio....well sort of and not really...i train on the wavemaster like a mad man...and way to often....it's hard not to i just love to punch.....i have been doing about "6 rounds" on the heavy bag a day/everyday(overkill i know)..and for the last 6 times ive did about "6 rounds" with about 10 extra minutes tagged on the end of me just "trying to kill it"....and i lift weights 4 days a week(top one day, bottom the next, twice a week)...i dont run ..i dont ride a bicycle....i think i have "naturally high" endurance(if that exists)....when i was younger like when i was 13 and 14 i was a runner like non other...i would run 8 miles from one "small town" to the next and back within about a 8 minute mile (i know not the greatest.... i am just a normal dude)...so being that young i dint really know what kind of shoes to wear(sometimes i didnt even wear any) or not to run on the black top...so i think ill try and take it easy on my leg joints........

......i agree i need a trainer and a somebody to beat on my head..and ill be ready

...what do you think of the "toughman contest" does it look "easy" to you..??..

                Later...............

#1 find a teacher or join a boxing gym or something.

#2 get some cardio going if you want to compete any time in the near future.

                  #3 stop training everyday

#4 dunno about your weights, my only advice here is if you need more muscle, then work it into your skills development schedule, if you do it for fitness, then your probably doing something pretty close to 'right.'

You need to rest. I train 6 days and rest 1 currently. Rest is very important for ALL levels of development - if you have worked the bag for 26 days straight then you NEED to lay off.

Id rest for a week if I were you and start a new cycle or whatever in a week or so, all rested and charged. Work the bag a few nights a week, get in a fat cardio session every training day or so, work your weights as appropriate, rest whenever tired, and for god sakes get a teacher and start shadowboxing.
