And with Obama making the economy worse with his borrowing, things are only going to get worse. I'm sure other events by other promotions will be forced to cancel events as well. It's only the beginning of things to come. The Japanese are already coming over to buy up all the real estate. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...%20Investments

Japan's economy is not doing well right now either. Where did you hear this "buying up all the real estate," or is it just general xenophobia? That would certainly fit your M.O. Longing for the 80s when you could feel better about yourself by bitching about people driving Toyotas, Jethro?

I just added the links to show where I heard this. I also heard from other individual people. On a side note, I drive a toyota. There the best cars made in my opinion.

There are, and will probably always be, foreign investors from all over the world and some people and companies with capital will try to find bargains during a recession, but "The Japanese are already coming over to buy up all the real estate" is a ridiculous overstatement. Japan's economy is doing about as badly as ours right now. This is not the 80s.

Yes I agree that there has always been foreign investors coming over to buy real estate but the article that I corrected makes it sound like there are a lot more at this time and that even more will follow to take advantage of our situation. Maybe this will happen and maybe it won't. We'll have to wait and see.

Um, China is not Japan, Captain Geography.

Even if you want to now switch your fear to China (buy a map or something, moron) "More than 100 Chinese buyers have joined such tours since late 2008" = 100 people out of 1.3 billion (and those are people who took a tour, not necessarily buyers). Hardly a massive trend. I'm sure at least 100 people from Germany, Brazil, Korea, and Australia have purchased real estate of some kind in the US over the past 12 months, and I'm sure a lot more than 100 Americans have invested in real estate abroad over the same period of time. Put away the fear. If it helps you sleep at night, this is a global recession we are in.

Yes I know this. I was agreeing with your post, post #8. I believe you stated and I quote "all over the world". My point is not about who specifically is buying the real estate, my point is that its being bought by foreign countries. by the way, I like that name you gave me just now "Capt. Geography".

Then why did you say "The Japanese are already coming over to buy up all the real estate"? That is pretty specific.

Okay would you like me to go and research EVERY country that is doing the same? Maybe I stated the Japanese and Chinese because it was the most publicized that I could find. But if you like and will give me more time to research I'll try and post some more for you oh great one. That's my new name for you....The Great and Almighty OZ.

Maybe you should just be more careful with your generalizations in the first place, then you wouldn't have to dig yourself out of a hole.
