i hate those stand up bags as well, cause I was in a gym shop and I saw the free standing bag so I kicked it quite hard, and it fell onto a load of dumbells. I got kicked out for that the man was angry
Heck yeah, floor to ceiling balls are great for Kung Fu. I use them, and my teacher has our kung fu school on them.
He, he, I think this actually may be a good opportunity to find out if you have a good Kung Fu school or not. Ask an "authority" at your school what they think of the idea for Kung Fu. If they say it's not a good idea or that it wouldn't help. Leave.
Speed bags, punching bags (100 lbs + is good), etc. All good for any style of self defense. I don't like those stupid stand up punching bags though...those are stupid. Unless you jab the things even some of the bigger ones will fall over Leave them to Tae Bo
Which style(s) of souther kung fu does your school teach? Which are you learning?
I am studying kung fu and I was thinking of buying a floor to ceiling speedball but I was having second thoughts. Would it be ok for kung fu kicks and punches?
