Wing Chun or Shaolin?

I dont know what to take Wing Chun or Shaolin? both look verry effective. Can anyone give me some info on both? thx

Shaolin Kung Fu is a way of life not just a fighting system. Wing Chun is a fighting system that is specifically engineered for a not too tall person that is not going to be wanting to kick above the waste. It is fast and powerful if practiced properly and in the right students hands. Like all Martial Arts it depends how good the teacher and how good the student is. If you are well suited to the Martial Art and you have confidence and faith in all aspects of your training you may one day become known as a Master.

Its actually on this forum somewhere (thats where I got it). But only the actual brawl is on the footage. The rest was reported in the Martial Arts press at the time (including photos). I'm old enough to remember it!

But watch out for them there Cheungy excuses. Originally it was all down to those slippery Kung Fu slippers. But, over time, a whole host of different ones have been tried, some of them downright contradictory, and include:-

Cheungy was jumped on from behind

Cheungy had to let Boztepe win, as he was being threatened by armed men (off camera of course)

Cheungy actually WON the encounter (Haw haw haw!) and

A whole bunch of people beat him up, but the others were all edited out of the film........

@Thai Bri: just curios: why do you spend so much energy on bashing WC/WT ? you have over 4 300 [this tells me al ot about what do you do in your free time, your social life, your profesional life, and the way you train] and 50% are about how week WC/WT is, the rest are just stupid jokes. I have studied Wing Chun for a great many days now at the Syracuse Martial Arts Academy in NY. My Sifu has told me a great many things that prove beyond doubt that a real Wing Chun Master is easily the most invincible fighter on the planet.

Honourable Master William Cheung merely let Boztepe take him to the floor so that this young upstart would not get hurt. It was clear that the video tape was edited, because the Master could not possibly be beaten, so it just did not happen.

It was unfortunate that my own Sifu resorted to rather disappointing and crude training methods though. rather than study the forms, he began to have us exercising too hard (NOT Chinese internal exercise though!!!!) and causing sweat and discomfort. Silly press ups do not help develop internal energy. He also had us fighting. Poor show.

I left Sifu, and gave him only 5 yars within which to return to recognised Wing Chun training, or I no longer pay my membership. Other friends of mine have also left. We wanted to learn how to transcend violence, not fight like a crude man.

Bruce Lee also agreed with me, or would have done if he had not been assasinated by jealous Ninja pretenders. They would not have been able to beat him if they had not cheated.

I think he helps. I think he shows people that kung fu is crap…and I’m a Tai Chi guy. Like Bri I practiced a lot of bullshit styles when I was younger…fukin waste of time. Maybe all this bashing can help someone decide a little faster that their style is crap then again some people never learn. If your style is not crap then don’t sweat it.
