  • Hmm, is there even such a thing?

I was just wondering. Does Shoalin even exist in the USA? Does it exist in the form of a dojo, or instructor?

I am in a Northern Shaolin style called Tai Yoe Q'uan Zhongguo wuyi. I have found that most styles taught here are in small personal schools call Kwan's. Instructors can be called Laoshi- Instructor or Sigung- Master. I am a Laoshi 6th class and a 5th degree black belt. I have never had more that 3 students at a time. People around here in Alabama would rather Ki-ya with karate or Tai quan do. If you want to email any on this you can send it to mlayman1@netzero.com. I do not check this site much. I hear a lot of punks and fantasy people that irritate me.

      By the way other terms:
Shaolin also called Silum relates to a young forest that stays rooted but bends with the storms and survives.- Describing a lot of the techniques.

Many of these arts come from the Silum temples in Northern China but could be filtered through families who taught outside the temple to make their living and passed down the art to their children.

      Dojo is a Japanese term.

I hope this helps in your search.

You never heard of Shi Yan-Ming? He was on tv a while back. he runs a school in new york. gat one of the ugliest girlfriends you ever saw.

Also there's also a bunch of traveling shaolin monks that put on freak shows like bending a spear by pushing the pointed end into their throat and doing summersaults and landing flat on their heads. They were doing this show at outdoor rock concerts and it made all the drugged up freaks think they wwer hallucinatingm,
