    Coconuts

My out burst is not directed at any body perticular. But more at a way we as martial artists are behaveing. We spread rumors about things or systems or styles we don`t have any experence in. A whole web site is now up and running for the sole purpose of that goal. I respect all of the martial arts. And i would hope that we don`t get caught up in that insecure way of doing things. My daughter and i both study the arts and both very diferent styles we show respect for ALL of the time and work every one puts into there art.

No comments on how Lacy isn't affiliated with the kung fu organization he claims? Perhaps there are some who do, but Lacy is a proven fraud. And if you actually buy his cancer palm, HIV palm, and god knows what else he uses, you need a reality check.

What happened to your argument that coconut breakers are frauds ? Did your comments paint to broad a picture. if you have problems with Lacy fine you do but don`t call me a fraud and i can`t break coconuts. And don`t say you reaserched this by hearing some one else say so.

Whatever you say If you want to smash produce, be my guest. But remember: "Coconuts don't hit back..."

You mentioned that you break coconuts sometimes and may or may not bake them.

How do you bake a coconut if you don't break it ? Do you simply toss it into a campfire and hope that the contents will bake and the husk will remain in tact?

Your mistaken i never said i bake them. Someone else makes claim that he KNOWS for sure that it can`t be done unless you bake them.

I just personally wonder "Why?" Why waste all this time smashing tropical fruits? I don't see how smashing a baked coconut is applicable anywhere to practical applications during combat.

well, a coconut is round, a skull is round...

And it's not necessarily to train for combat applications, it is a test. just like board breaking. and it is also conditioning and training, like hitting a heavy bag.

So are watermelons, oranges, melons, and basketballs. The human skull is significantly stronger than a coconut.

So why do a less effective method of power training than the heavy bag? Breaking is merely a showoff thing, it may look cool and all but in the long run it really doesn't mean a whole lot. You can break boards all day long, but if you're not training to take somebody out with a few punches, it's not going to be anywhere near as effective.

Hey Koto we thought we got rid of you. If you don`t want to break then don`t and if you don`t then stop talking about something you know nothing about. and how will you take someone out when you can`t hit hard.

See, the thing is, I can hit hard while actually sparring, not while holding something in my hand or have it on the bench and hitting something that doesn't move. Big, big difference.

Here's another viewpoint on several people discussing all the tricks of breaking and saying how it's mostly just for show, and many of them being experienced breakers themselves:

And no, you'll never get rid of me I'm here to save some poor souls from their own mistakes.

Some of the skills he shows off are so brain-dead easy it boggles the mind people believe he's the shit.

^ Anybody who trains their grip on a regular basis (e.g. most strongmen, serious strength trainers, and the like) can easily crush apples in their hands and he acts like it's a really big deal. I can even break apples quicker than this, if I had a digital camera I'd show you. If he can close at least a #2 CoC gripper, I might at least say he has something but other than that, nada

A coconut is probably the closest thing you can get to a human skull.

It takes about 1300 pounds of preasure to break the skull. It takes 1600 pounds of preasure to break a coconut.
Who cares if it's just for showing off. People do it. People break boards, kick watermelons, throw axes and darts at bullseyes, shoot arrows at nonmoving targets. Hell I even break out my blow-gun every once in a while to practice, and I know for sure that they are obsolete. There are many things that people do just for the challenge of it. I guarentee that not everything you do is reality based and geared towards fighting.
