No, the stone forest was about 3 hours away and I couldnt handle the travel. After the long hard bus ride to Dali and back, I just wanted to relax.
I was more interested in stacking up on dvds.

Those wouldn't be pirated dvds, would they?

            Yes. Yes, they would.

How ironic is it that I got a pirated copy of "Pirates of the Carribean"?

If you had picked it up in the Carribean it would be even more ironic! Or if you were a pirate yourself! Or if....ah, never mind.

It is nice to know that you are really interested to learn real kung fu. Real kung fu is no child play, it involves developing power, stamina, reflexes, courage & character. To train you need at least to put in 10 hrs/week & must keep it up for at least 4 years to really be an effective kung fu fighter.

My training was traditional, traditional in a sense that it wasn`t about money. Kong Han Athletic Club was charging only 100.00 (pesos) for the every 3 months during my time ( 70`s- 80`s ) & that money is use for 20% maintaining the club. 80% of its overhead comes from the community members.

Kong Han was set up in the traditional sense of "CLAN" type structure every members are treated like family & they help each other out not only in the club but outside too.

Kong Han is also involed in community services like providing inhouse crowd control in parties & public gatherings.

Check this site, i`m still working on it (specially my grammar) but it will kind`d give you guys a glimps of Kong Han Athletic Club.

Very true, in fact Kong Han was not very strict with the fees, also Kong Han have a great history.

It is this traditional fraternal clan set up of Kong Han that make me feel proud to be part of Kong Han.

Kong Han have a tradition & reputation of always backing up members who are in trouble. That is one reason why many people dare not mess with any Kong Han members.

During the early 1990`s at the peak of kidnapping in Manila, Kong Han got into the headlines for speaking out against it & was suspected by the goverment of planning to form "private armed volunteers" just like the volunteer fire brigade. Immidiately we ( senior members) got summoned in a meeting by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to clarify our stance.

In the end, there was nothing much Kong Han can do about the kidnapping problem becuase the people who are involve in it are all members of the goverment, law enforcement & miltary people. Also the goverment warn all groups not to form any private self defense volunteer group by citizens.
