"Be alert. Be alive in the moment. Don’t imagine anyone who comes and asks you to ‘push’ or ‘spar’ will keep to a format, or even stay barehanded" my ba gua teacher !!
Can't really tell anything from the vid Chris. The attacker is being cooperative. He turns over much too easily. The defenders technique looks fairly solid, but we can't tell how well it would hold up under pressure. If you've seen alot of shoots and sprawls you get an idea of when the attacker is being cooperative and when he is not. Using a sprawl and flipping the opponent over is a textbook anti shoot move though. I would say that his sprawl is rather poor. Any wrestler type guy would have had him on his back. If you watch slowly the defender falls back on his backside as the attacker moves in. There is no way to stop someones forward motion in this posture no matter how good your kung fu! It's simple physics. His technique works because the attacker stops his forward pressure short. If he continued to press as anyone with even a little shoot knowledge would do, he would have neutralized the defense effectively.
