      Ohh yeah !

      Hong Kong movies rules

'My eagle claw will rip trough your anicent fist of lesser gods, with my secret death palm of agonizing night strike. Hahahahhaha'

On a sidenote: don't look at videos to check what you are able to do in many years training, every single one of those movies are utter bs regarding 'real' CMA fighting.

Thanx for the post I just got carried away after seeing the shoalin monks vids.

I realise that years of training gives you years of experience and that gives you good looking/Effective moves.

          Happy training.

But just remember: practicing alone dont make you a fighter. If you are serious about getting good at chinese MA, at one stage or another you have to fight, and fight outside your school.

Could be anything from visiting other schools and ask for a match, or dont step back when confronted in hostile situations with total strangers.

The schools basicaly teach you how to move and use your body, the fighting part you have to figure out yourself with trial and error.

Without the fighting part you will have some flashy moves to show off, but you wont be very 'ninja' The movies are pretty, but it doesnt look one bit like actual chinese fighting.

Im afraid im not from the US so I realy dont know any schools there

If you intend to spar to practice your Kung Fu skills I would reccomend not going to 'regular' class, but go and say your intentions (you want to test out your skills agains other people). The MMA people are often more than willing to rip up some traditional martial artist and will accept without this being 'most very rude behaviour and utter insults' as can be seen in some schools.

The first times you fight you will most likely get whopped, but if you keep it up and have a good teacher you will eventualy find those few techs that are 'you'. But practice them first. Alone and drill with someone you trust.

Then go fight. If after some tries you can't get it to work, drop it and try something else.

I would also inquire the teacher what his/hers views are on fighting. I tend to stay away from those stating 'ma is self defence only, we do not use our skills blahblah'. Dont take me wrong, I'm no bully eager to fight strangers for no reason (im very much against such things), but my idea of MARTIAL arts is the art of being able to beat up other people.

And I think thats where many kung-fu schools excells, it is room for both those wanting some training sessions a week without any physical confontration, and those who wants to fight.
