What is Wu Chu and where does it originate? I've been told its secretive and it's not wu shu.

Wu Chu Chuan is also known as Ngor Chor Kun, or Five Ancestors Fist. There are two differing histories for Wu Chu. One history states that it was founded at the Northern Shaolin temple around 1250AD and moved to the southern temple in Fukien province after the destruction of the northern temple. Another history states that it was created around 1850AD in Fukien province. As to which history is correct, who knows.Originally posted by Oraenor

Wu Chu Chuan and Wuzuquan (a.k.a. Ngor Chor Kun), I think are different martial arts altogether.Comment

Yep, your right. I found the source where I thought it said 'Wu Chu Chuan was not Wuzuquan'. However, my memory failed me, as it was a comparison of Wu Shu Kwan, being different from Wuzuquan. And not Wu Chu Chuan.Originally posted by joedoe
I guess if Wuzuquan is in the pinyin script, the Wu Chu Chuan spelling may be in another script like Wage-Giles. Or even, another Chinese Language.Comment

It may be Wade-Giles. All I know is that the Chee Kim Thong school based in Malaysia uses 'Wu Chu Chuan', and that the correct pinyin is Wuzuquan. I tend to use 'Ngor Chor Kun' since it leaves less room for misunderstanding ... you would not believe how many people read Wu Chu Chuan and think it is Wushu.Comment
