  • TWKSF- tian shan pai info :)

Hi there. Has anyone heard of this style?

I just started a class up in the mountains of tian shan pai kung fu. I am so excited about this class. The shifu is a young women who has been studying this art for 19 years. The website is www.bodybalancenc.com. The stuff we practice is wonderful. We do the warmups and stretch kicking (lots of crane hand technique stuff) kicks, and then we go straight into sparring sets. After the sparring we go into forms. The stuff is so real that it is very
    street effective.

I have learned that what we practice is actually a mixture of many kung fu styles. In an article of inside kung fu, it tells that our grandmaster started learning tian shan pai as a kid. When he was 18 he was chosen to attend the Chung yang koushu kuan or in english the Central Kuoshu academy in the late 1920's.

From what i have read and heard, this university was a kung fu college that tought only chinese boxing. The curriculum was made of many different styles of kung fu including: bagua, hsingi, tai chi chuan, and other various styles. From what i have read our grandmaster combined the tian shan pai he learned from childhood with the kung fu he learned at the kuoshu academy. He then blended the arts into a curriculum he teaches as tian shan pai. My shifu learned from her father and the grandmaster so i am sure that the curriculum is quite authentic.

interesting stuff if you ask me! anyways i am really enjoying the class and i was wondering if anyone has heard of tian shan pai and or the annual chinese kuoshu championship tournement. My shifu says it is a very popular chinese boxing tournement and it is held in the u.s.

I would love to hear any comments!

        Well. . .
All I can say is that at least your part of the school that is under Huang and its Tain Shin Pai - or whatever it is. Sifu Huang is the President of USAKF and doesn't let many people compete for the USA team in the Kuosho federation that isn't under his school. Too bad he has nice people as students
The Kuosho tournament is nice place to go in Baltimore when you have nothing better to do with your time.
Just my opinion but who really cares

lol ya i actually did take some muay thai and i also learned a few warm up forms of muay chia, the yogic boxing from thailand, from a mentor of mine. In all honesty i really prefer traditional kung fu, though muay thai/chia would come second or third in rank of my favorite martial arts!
