90% of chinese martial arts scoff at the idea of ground fighting and take downs. They think it's a western thing and will generally stay away from that. Now you must elaborate on your second sentence about the 'look alike takedown'.
Groundfighting is not elaborated in most Chinese arts. True.
But takedowns are definitely not scoff at. I don't know where you get this idea from.

Chinese arts became flashy from the moment gynmnastics were more studied. Many bouts between fighters back then were not long and tactics were not so elaborate. Chinese opera would have many leaps and bound in movesment only for exercise and dramatics.
Wrestling/ground work has long since been in chinese martial arts;
There is evidence that martial practices were known since antiquity. A bronze plate from around 403-222 bc, shows two wrestlers fighting. There is also mark of knowledge about breathing work (in Zhuangzi, "tu gu na xin", (pour out the old, absorb the new)). A lot of taolu appear in antic writing under the form of martial danse (wuwu). After that we have several treatises from the Han dynasty, like the Shoubo liu pian (six papers about wrestling) and the Jiandao sanshiba pian (thirty eight papers about the way of fencing) wich both appear in Hanshu (Book of Han) written by Ban Gu (32-92 AC). After that, severals books written under different dynasty talk about martial practice.
In 960, Jiaoli Ji (memory of wrestling) has a lot of information about wrestling. Jiaoli is a military practice and also a popular amusement, and give birth to Shuai Jiao which inspired what is known as Judo (japonese). Under the Ming dynasty, there is Wubian (around 1520).
Boxing was more developped in the farming community and civilian, who used it for rebellion. The History of Boxing is more related to secret society(white lotus, southern triad) than military world. Thats why its difficult to find reliable information because most of ressource are military treatises and official texts.
Yes i have trained in Snake style and i have found it to be very effective, The fast precise strikes to the pressure points can easily imobleize your opponate, and the loose fluid movements make it so your opponate has a terrible time making contact with you, I have not been in many encounters where i had to use my Martial arts training but I have tooked down my attackers with little effort using my "Hung Gar" and "Shaolin Snake" Kung-fu and i hope i dont have to ever use it again.
I would like to see you use it in the ring against Tito
Sweet! it sounds like you are using dimmak! what point do you use when you want to immobilize an opponent? or is it several points? do they stay immobilized long? and where can i learn to do this? sorry so many questions but this fascinates me...
Get off the Xbox, out away the magic cards and train normal
Except that Chin na means sieze and control...he is talking about paralyzing people with finger strikes...Chin na is in my tool kit ...but i cant paralyze with a finger strike....yet i hope too find out where i can learn it though...
YA think? i was wondering how long this little charade was going to continue damn and i was all set to move to iowa to learn some baaaad assed kung fu from a 21 year old Master!
Ya know, some Gong fu styles have grappling and breaking tactics. There is even a Chinese wrestling style. And in most Gong Fu systems, for example 7-Star Mantis, there are hardly any mimicks of it. But why relate any of it to animals? For that matter, we could relate any physical activity to a animal. like intercourse-you could say I have humping Chuawaua style.

What do you mean why relate to animals? Like why develop martial arts based on animals?
