baguazhang is all about 90% using palm techniques,also some grips and this is in the name even "Eight Diagram Palm" its about not directly attacking an oncoming force, bguazhang moves around the attack; also simultaneously redirecting the attack while closing the position, or by evading the attack and moving yourself to an advantageous position/form for finishing off the aggressor,
