      It's all about conditioning...

The 1990s have demonstrated that MMA are superior to traditional CMA, JMA etc.

But that's not all. Self-defence realists have sufficiently demonstrated that studying traditional arts for street self-protection is useless.

That is why whan I read people asking "is this or that Traditional CMA good for self-defense" or others claiming that UFC is fake because of the "rules", I call them wankers.

And this is why such traditional arts for self-defense simply... SUCK MUD
Do you condition your cranium mate!?

TCMA and TMA as a whole aren't shit. They do work in self defense and they are good.
The problem is that most TMA schools are truely mcdojos and the only thing the so called "masters" in these schools teach is kung-fuk. These are the same masters that went to india to learn TCMA and managed to master these arts in 2 years.
TCMAs are a viable and useful way to defend one's self. Its how you train. If all you do is forms then, yes you are going to get your ass handed to you on a sliver platter in a street fight.
Where do you think San Shou comes from? Yes, traditional chinese arts. It's their method of training, not what they train, because they sure as hell use some of the things you call shit. I have no doubt that any decent San shou practioner could whallop mr. Bart "iambetterthanall" jam.

Just my opinion, but it is an educted one. there is a type of t'ai chi chuan called Pa Kua Chuan it's a system used to avoid agression thru unseen movement, and respond with sharp palm strikes. I went to a demonstration with my wife a couple of years ago and people from the audience were invited to try and hit the instructor. Now mind you, this is a type of tai chi, I went in skepticle but I left a believer. This is an effective form of self defense and does not suck mud.
