[" And although we may do our best to avoid trouble, sometimes trouble insists on finding us. When that happens......when the time for talk is over, warriors act. They flip the switch and act decisively - ruthlessly if necessary - to preserve and defend the things that they hold dear." Michael D. Janiich Why being a warrior starts with accepting the limitations of peace.
what wood type is the most suitable for making one from scratch,
peace,
that all depends on what kind of dummy youre building...Is it going to be alive? indoor or outdoor? are you going to train with weapons against it?...ours is hand made from Cherry
i will try to get the guy who builds ours to pop in and comment tommorow when he comes to class.
for someone that claims to be a grownup your pretty goddamn immature, kid
Does replying to every post of his with an even more useless post make it less useless? Sorry I had to butt in but I'm tired of the shittalking I used to here on gaming forums lol.
Btw nice dummy boarspear ;p
My old sifu had one but I never asked him what it was made of=/
The one I have is made of Oak Hardwood. The arms are made of softer material(still oak). I made this one aswell, but to be honest I thought I would get a better dummy for cheaper, but I got a better dummy for more, even though I assembled it. I have fitted 2 force mesurement pads, to the body an face. The dummy is perfect for this as it only moves ever so slightly. Man, If you do make one, make surte its got a leg, a low punch, and can be shunted along. Oh, and hang a groin bag on it aswell as this is a usefull tool. I agree with blitz, theres to much petty bitching. But the guys on here who acctualy know shit, they know who they are and so do I. peace and love
thanks for the info everyone, i made one a few years back but i broke it the very first time i trained with it, it was either really weak or im just super strong, i would like to go along with the second one personally,
nahs eriously it was an ok dummy, just the joints were too weak and they broke after a few well placed palm strikes and low kicks,
boar, i liek that one what wood is it cherry? what is cherry wood? and is it available in england for chopping?

me and my axe are ready to go,
peace,
what is cherry wood? that sounds like a question for jubaji
however the wood that comes from cherry trees is what we silly americans call cherry...but then you know how the english language is ...i dont think britain has any left...George Washington chopped 'em all down (I cannot tell a lie).
cherry is great...usually people use Teak or mahognany...We let the hurricanes knock 'em down, we cut 'em up.....
@Gung fu & all who want to built a wooden dummy: I can send you via e-mail a .pdf 'book' witch describes how to build a dummy/material to use and some pics about with the build plans.
I haven't read the .pdf yet, so don't ask me about it, but I plan to build my own dummy in the future.
