Hi how are you guys doing here in the CMA forums?

I'm exited because i just found a CMA class 30 seconds away from my house which i never knew existed.

Excuse my ignorance but is taiji just a differant way of pronouncing tai chi?

Do you guys know anything about the style? What do you think i will gain by joining the school?

Probably one of the best schools in the UK. Richard and his son are amongst the most open and experienced instructors. Simon has competed in both European and world champiobships and both serve on the governing bodies board. (BCCMA)

You will learn the essence of TaiJi ( correct spelling using Pinyin) and gain a true understanding of traditional martial arts.

Yes taiji is Tai chi. the difference is in the way the chinese language is translated. Originally there was a system called wade glides that was used predominantely but now Pinyin is more common. The actual pronounciation is closer to taiJi that Tai Chi.

Taiji is a martial art. Along with the health aspect and the Chi aspect it is a very effective fighting art and focusses on aspects uniqie to Chinese martial arts, such as rooting, and striking using energy in connective tissue rather than muscular strength.

There are generally more 'older' people doing Taiji in the west but dont let that put you off. Another well known Taiji practitioner was very successfull in the full contact south east asian champioships in the early eighties.

I know Simon is very good at pushing hands and both he and his father undersatnd the application and correct use of the art.

I must say, I am not affiliated with the school at all and give you this information independantly.

I met both men during my time with the UK wushu team back in 1990/91 I left the team to go travelling and simon joined the team the following year. They both gained the respect of my teacher ( which is hard to do) and then demonstrated a very open attitude.

You would be hard pushed to find better people to learn from. They are also very well connected with the top teachers in China.
