This may be a silly question....but here goes:

What's w/ the whole two fingers pointing (index and middle finger) in Chinese MA? I've seen it in several movies like "Crouching Tiger.." and "Big Trouble in Little China". A lot of times you'll see a martial artist holding a sword in one hand and two the 2 fingers-gun thing w/ the other. Just curious.

Gun thing? WTF? Do you study the CMA's at all or was the name just cool? It's an alignment thing... if you dont study the Cma's and havent developed body feel, then it protects your spirit from the blade

Point those two fingers at yourself in the mirror. Focus on it. Flex those fingers and point them at your torso. Exhale your breath! You should be able to FEEL it bouncing off the mirror in a psychic sense. You won't ACTUALLY "feel" it but it should give you some idea of INTENT. IF you have any?

The only Chinese MA I've had any training in is a couple of Tai Chi classes.

As far as the "gun thing", what I meant was your two fingers are pointing...and the rest of your hand is forming like a pretend-gun. Easy to show someone what I mean, but hard to put into words.

I thought maybe it something to do w/ Chi Flow, etc.?

I think it’s safe to say anything that helps alignment will help Ki flow…..
