Not welcome at the Shaolin Temple. When he went back to china for the first time since his defection, they welcomed him back with open arms.

No, but I didn't need to be. For one it was on the news. In Chine after the plane landed and everyone was deboarding, there was a crowd of people and a band playing. When they went to the temple all of the monks had assembled outside, and then they had a giant feast.

He left Shaolin under escort in the middle of the night, he was "escorted" all the way out of the country along with his entourage...and asked not to return...something about multiple pregnant women screaming for him outside Shaolin creating a Nat'l embarrassment....that and bringing his rapper friends along LOL.

Actually, yes. I like to gather information and see what everyone thinks. In my honest opinion Sifu Shi Yan Ming is a very good martial artist, and I would be honored to learn from him.

Cult of personality with self-directed rules. sounds downright dangerous to me!
                      1. He's a Buddhist monk but he's a media whore, having appeared in magazines, television, movies, the 'net, etc. etc. etc. obviously has a good marketing/public relations program to keep him in the public eye - hmmm, that doesn't sound right...
                      2. He's a Buddhist monk but he's got a "girlfriend" - boy, that doesn't sound right at all...
                      3. He's a Buddhist monk but he's known primarily for teaching a style of fighting, not for teaching Buddhism - boy, that's wayyy off!
                      4. He's a Buddhist monk but he charges his students money for lessons - hmmm!
                      5. He's a Buddhist monk and he's got his own website!

What are your goals, anyway? You tryin' to become a Buddhist or a monk or a martial artist? Lissen, why'ncha come on down to the Lair, gimme all your worldly possessions and become my disciple? I'll teach you Drunken Bear style and the sound of one paw slappin'. The Lair needs a good thorough cleaning and I can always use another slav... err I mean, disciple.

Seriously, hit me up and we'll work somethin out!

Those are good points, except for that he teaches Chan Buddhism. It is an elective.

But, I would like to get together with different Martial Artists. Here in Kansas there aren't many. It would be alot more fun if there were.
