I do have his book "Effortless Combat Throws." Although his western explanation of eastern principles is fascinating, I do not think that these things can be learned from a book.
In my view the photos are poor. Not only is the quality sub standard (it is hard to see because of dark uniforms mingling with a dark background), also many of the throws look too "staged."
Not for me, but pretty interesting.

That Tim Cartmell is a fascinating guy. He can make some of these CMA seem mre realistic, rather than the usual "Develp Invincible Kung Fu Power" type knobs.
As for BJJ being good because even he thought it worthy enough to get a black belt in it, that may be. But maybe his CMA expertise greatly assisted him getting that Black Belt?

Thats why I said its more like a Chin Jab.Originally posted by Tom Yum View PostI'd find it hard to throw a knee and palm strike at the same time, simply because the palm strike seems like a longer distance weapon.
I've seen the knee and elbow used simultaneously, in silat and kenpo.
Most palm strikes I've seen have people throwing them much like punches.
Hip rotation, full extension, etc... its just a palm instead of a fist.
This is just a little different. Are you familiar with the chin jab?

Close to gutter fighting, and the groin, i.e. the poverbial gutter...
Damn TomYum your smart.

You've got the dvd...I think...no worries though, you know the form...Green dragon holds his head, etc. The throw in the clip is Black bear wipes his paw clean to Black bear turns his backs transition.Originally posted by knifethrower View Post
