He wouldn't have been baned at all if he would have heeded repeated warnings about trying to cast my military service in some kind of shady or dishonest light. No one willing to go and fight and die for their country should be treated like that, and I warned him more than once. My first inclination was to ban him altogether, no if's and's but's or reprieves. 6 months was a break. From my end, it would take something on the order of a written commitment from him not to engage in the same kind of behavior and some kind of accountability for his behavior. He's never been willing to take that kind of accountability before, or to apologize even when he's clearly in the wrong, so I doubt he'd be willing to do it now, but it would go a long way. He has my personal e-mail address, but I have yet to hear a word. Simply put, I know many people here like and respect him, but I am not willing to allow anyone to try and bully me, and Boar is no exception. He was pushing for what he got, and nothing short of a complete correction of the behavior will earn him admission back to the boards early.

I'd happily do the legwork if it involves bringing BS back here, in acceptable form.
Mike, I do think you took some of BS's comments too close to heart, though I also believe they weren't neccessary in the first place.
First and foremost, this is, should be an MA forum, where MA, is the main topic of dicussion, rather than MS (military service).

The behaviour of BS on here (relative to other members), was exemplory in regards to CMA.
There's been a lot of bullying on here of late.
So get your own house in order, before you demolish anyone elses.

I have never objected to the give and take that goes on here. When I've gone too far, I've tried to make apologies in a timely, sincere, and public fashion. Many of the people here (including Boar) can attest to that. DickHardman is perhaps one of the very best examples.

The fact is, Boar chose his subject matter carefully. He targeted something personal to get a reaction.

All I can comment on, is what an outsider see's.

We've had that discussion before, and he knew what I would do. Carrying out my promise to ban him if he didn't knock it off is and was a simple matter of integrity on my part. How effective a moderator would I be if I laid down guidelines and penalites and then didn't enforce them? I said I'd ban him for a particular behavior, he engaged in that behavior, so I banned him. Simple as that.

I get reported posts from all kinds of people (most recently you, TV) asking me to penalize people for being insulting.

Not that you should really be publicizing that, but yeah, if people are going to be penalized for being insulting, then they should also be alowed to point out even a minute fraction of where they themselves have been insulted.
I might be mistaken, but I thought you were the mod for a specific section of the forum, whereas my concerns have largely been for the CMA section, and that's what I would have been reporting recently.

Could someone please point me to the post that was the final straw? I read that "What kind of man..." thread but didn't see a post from Boar after Mike's final warning that crossed the line. Was it somewhere else, or deleted maybe?

I don't blame you at all Mike. My thinking was that maybe he's a changed man. Maybe he can come back and stick to the issues without personal attacks. That's what I liked about him; his broad knowledge of the issues. Between Boar, yourself, Tom Yum and Jubagi you keep the boards hopping.
