I do have an idea. An to train your spirit to hurt rather than maim and maim rather than kill, is a strong discipline of any martial artist. I didn't say that I would do nothing I am also a protector of my family and I would die for them. I would chase after the man. But my mindset towards him is different than your. He would be stopped and I would not want to kill him, or in your words, "Kill'em all and let God sort them out".
You said,
"Protecting my family comes first. In terms of people who hurt my family"
This man as I understand did not hurt your family, he stole something and ran off. I agree that he needed to be stopped. But as far as immediate danger to your family, it seems that was not the issue. Do you know that if a man breaks into your house and steals things and you wake up and scuffle with him then he runs out of the house and off your property and you chase him and he gets killed by you. I believe you will get charged. If you had hurt him in your house it is different. Again, more reasons for sefl discipline.
if you cannot discipline your self, how can you really achieve a strong skill in martial arts?
You said,
"To you I might just be a scrapper"
No, I told you in another post more of who I believe you are, and I was trying to be gracious towards you. You don't seem to realize, if you had not believed the lies about me and if you had really considered what i have said and yes even my spiritual talk, you would perhaps have been a friend to me. but you have chosen the path of a angry hateful man. This only leads to .........nowhere.
By the way, patience, discipline and a controlled spirit is not "weak"
"A man who cannot control his spirit, is like a bull in a glass shop" (TigerClaw 2008, not a fortune cookie saying)
