Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to keep you up to date on our next tournament.
We are really looking forward to this one.
With an Open Weapons Division we were hoping to attract even more Kali groups. We would love to start to see more schools and systems represented.
Let us know if you are interested and if anything definitely try to come out and watch the event. It is always action packed!
..........
The Center of Martial Arts would like to invite you to our upcoming Stick and Knife Fighting tournament - The Day of Champions. It will be held on Saturday, October 30th at Given Recreational Center in Austin, Texas. The doors will open at 10:30am and the action will start at 11am.
We are pleased to announce as promised the introduction of our newest Segment, the Open Weapons Division. This division will be the first specialty division to host a Title Belt which, we are sure will bring even more action to the stage.
Most recently in our news, our previous Champion, Jason Lemond will not be able to defend his Title due to back surgery. This means he will have to forfeit the Title. We will have to host an Invitational Division with all the current Stick Contenders to fight for the Submission Stick Title. We will also be offering a chance for anyone to fight via a wildcard slot! This entitles the 1st place winner of the Submission Stick Division a chance to fight with the top contenders for the Title!
On top of all of this action, we are planning several contender matches with five rounds of action each as well as our other great divisions from the Spring.
Our tournament normally hosts two bladed divisions with rules for both sword and knife. During this event we will be introducing a double elimination format for the bladed divisions giving us 1st through 4th places for awards.
We will also be working our Submission Divisions in both Stick and Knife which always promote tons of continuous action by allowing the competitors to work the weapon, empty hand strikes and grappling!
Finally, on top of all of this, we will be also introducing our first Team Competition Awards. This will be a great chance for those schools that come out and have more than one person competing. We will take a percentage of the entire events score from each team and award 1st - 3rd places to the teams that do the best in the entire day!
Stay tuned to the website (www.EdgeFighting.com) for more announcements and new rule updates. The website will also be featuring the release of The Edge 2003 video footage for your purchase. The 2003 video tape is edited down to a mere two and a half hours of non stop action on the stage at Stubb’s BBQ. This is a great opportunity for you to analyze fights as well as just watch some great action!
Please contact us if you are interested in competing or even just visiting Austin and watching some great action. We are already excited about the turn out and the momentum that this third tournament is bringing.

We hope to see you all there,
