I can't afford to dump a ton of money on a knife, I want to use them so I buy the kind I can afford. While a high quality production model might sell for 300- 350 USD, I ordered these without handles or sheaths and got a bargain price. read < one name brand model... (confidential)
I'll pass on "super" stainless steel and NAME brands for a good functional tool. That and he took a crude sketch made by me and made them for ME (out of L-6 steel) so it really is a CUSTOM project. Much more fun than a production knife if you ask me and they have the same warrantee.... for life.

Perhaps this sheds a little light on my excitement?

    Back to the topic...?

that's sort of like the "brass paperweight" my brother used to carry around with him.

Just a quick nit to pick, CA law does not outlaw double-edge, or treat it any differently than single edge. State law says the knife can't be capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon, and beyond that has some restrictions on automatic knives, and carry on school grounds, government buildings, etc. There is the occasional municipality that has stronger restrictions.

Erm - do you mean coloured belt as in a grade or as in my belt that could be used as a weapon?

If you mean my belt as a self defence weapon - then i still think thats a good idea. My belt is pretty mean

If you mean that gaining belts in MA would go little towards self defence, i have to disagree - Doing martial arts has made me more confident and more aware, its also helped me think logically what to do if i ever needed the skills i have gained. Though i did spar with sum1 who has an orange in jitsu and a brown in kung fu, and managed to floor the guy 1nce (he was surprised and beat me 4-0 )

On fear, i do have a limited understanding of fear - but i cant unfortunatley buy the book you reccomend due to my budget - if there was an online version id read it. Hmm. Still, atm my undestanding is that fear makes people more likely to fight in a fight/flight situation - most of the time i believe id choose flight, and only fight if it was the last option.

          Thanks for being helpful.
