  • "Double edged training knife"

yeah...sorry if the title was misleading, I just saw the Spyderco Gunting trainer for sale at a local cutlery shop, and I couldn't help but consider the wonderful self defense applications such an instrument yeilds.
Naturally it's not as lethal as a real knife, but it can be used to destruct, assist it breaks and manipulation of limbs, and all sorts of tricky-treats.

But...because it is a training knife, if you use it for self defense (or self offense rather) could it backfire on you? I mean...logically speaking, if it comes up in court that your a martial artist and you roughed up an assailant with a training tool that you honed those skills on...could that be a bad, bad thing?

I mean, why would a non-martial artist carry something like that? And in what I know of recent assault and battery laws and counter suits (which is not very much) it makes me think that the guys attorneys or the DA could use the information that you are a martial artist against your case.

    I dunno...I ask...yup yup...yeah.
