Area's of Kali

Out of all the different areas of kali which is your fav.

We use the following areas.
1.Single Stick
2.Double Stick
3.Stick and dagger
4. Double dagger
5.Single Dagger
6.Palm Stick
7.empty Hands
8.Long Weapons
9. Flexable
10.throwing
11.projectile
12. healing,Etc.Hilot

where I train we only use 1,2,3,5,6,7,. I had some of the rest by myself.

My Fav. I like all the areas. I really like the single stick.

healing? Hilot? I grew up in the PI..havnt heard that this is part of KALI? It's local medicine...not Kali....I guess this si like Kinumutai..he,he..makes me laugh..anyways..I like Espada y daga

These are the 12 areas that Guro Dan includes in his FMA training - if memory serves, he got these areas from John Lacoste and Lacoste (along with some of Guro Dan's other instructors) considered healing to be an integral part of martial arts. Hopefully my memory of that history is accurate but that is the reason that Guro Dan includes Hilot in that list of "areas of Kali" ... because many of his FMA instructors considered it an important aspect of training - both from a moral stand and from the idea that understanding the body in general both for healing and harm was beneficial to martial arts training.

I've had some training in all of these but in Sikal, we primarily focus on 1,2,3,4,5,7 and 9 (except that our flexible weapons come primarily from the Silat side of the equation and some of our other aspects come from Silat, too). We do some throwing and long weapons but don't put a lot of emphasis on them in our standard curriculum.

Yeah.. Inosanto kali is a very good art. TONS and tons of good drills.. The blend system is vey complete.. Any thing you can think of is there somewhere!

I want to learn more, double dagger, staff, sarong, I know drills and tech's from all areas but I want to become more well rounded. and learn all of the 12th area,.

The Double Dagger section to me is very weird, But thats where the empty hands is from. I cant belive there used to be people who fought with two knifes..Deadly.

Hilot is the art of pressure manipulating muscles and joints to heal. Guro Sam Tendencia was the major player here in this area of expertise . He was an advisor to Guro Dan Inosanto and the LA police department. Sadly, Guro Sam has alzhiemers and his health is fading. He is a great guy and did wonders with my recouperation from a shattered wrist. I spent several weeks with him and saw a very fast arnis player and a man with a warm heart.

In the last time i spend more time in the sibat training, because it improves my bodymechanics (the power of my strikes) a lot.

Interesting look at all the levels of training MAMike. Have to say I have done a fair bit of training through levels 1-8 (as you have described them). But really haven't had much to do with levels 9,10,11,12. Well not formally through the filipino martial arts.
However I think the sinawali's give you your base allowing you to excersize both sides of your body combining your hand and arm movements with your feet. After that we do a lot of flow work which then allows us to experiment with a lot of the things you have mentioned in the various levels.
As to what I like the most well personally its a mixture of mano-mano and Classical Solo Baston maybe through in a bit of Espada Y Daga as well. I suppose the best thing about Kombatan Arnis (which is what I do) is that it covers the majority of the filipino systems extensively hence I get to experiment with the majority of the stuff you have listed.
