"Practice Kali-Silat, (ake: Arnis, Escrima, Eskrima,) in the 12 methods, 'Doce Methodos'. are among many terms that knowledgible Filipinos often used regarding training. And, how the training was broken up after the Spanish forced their surrender in 1521. "These are the real practices of training." And they continue, "I do all the work, in each and every practice, until I find how I do it, equally with my left and right hand, in case I loose one in battle."
These are the basic two rules in understanding what FMA is all about. Grand Master Preses knew that and shared those methods as did many special individuals I had to opportunity to meeet. "Students that have passed through the training have reached unusual circumstances, one such gentleman began to help him in a larger program in Atlanta awhile back, with GM Preses. I'm sure many miss him and have thanks for us to remember him by practice.
So what are these 'twelve methods'? In truth there will never be a staight answer as to exactly what they are, or in which manner must you practice them, and of course everyone changes the rules along the way, yeah, everyone has it, but not everyone shares it. Share your thoughts with me taking the poll, and I'll give you a DVD download you can burn to a CD or DVD in SVCD format.
We owe respect to the Philippine Culture for Kali Silat and that means giving back, "after all if it saves your life just once, How much is it worth?" Suryadi Jafri, circa 1977. So a visit to the Philippines is in order. Send me an email, and I'll include a letter of introduction, if you need, to visit and train with the few grand masters in these arts and sciences in their culture.
I'll give you a new video you won't believe, absolutely free, if you'll share your thoughts on the 12 methods, you know. Each poll answer will get a free download for a DVD you can burn to a DVD or SVCD, it's not one of the many I've produced, so you'll see how simple it is, like the SinaTirsiaWali's concept that we use, STW: "At the time of any incident, it doesn't matter what you know, or what you do and what you've done in practice, it only matters, "Can you stop me, can I stop you, now matters what". As GM Tortal, Sr. would say.
Not matters what! Strong words and of course so many masters that I've met know the answers, and have the tools to back it up many among them were found covered in blood during world war", but it was not there own!" As was the case with GM Sam Tandencia
regards to everyone on these Holy Days, where everyone benefits from the arts we share at www.KaliSilat.org
