  • Combat Judo with a knife?! Who said this?

Someone on this site once likened a martial art (pretty sure it was Silat) to "combat judo with a knife". I only have a passing knowledge of FMAs, so I don't even know if there are different styles within each art as there are for karate and jujitsu etc. Maybe it was a particular sub-style of a FMA that was being described? I looked back through the threads and couldn't find it (may not have even been in the FMA forum). Anyway if you're the one who made this comparison or if you can tell what is being referred to I would love to know, that art sounds right up my alley.
    Thanks

    Thanks

i believe i made that reference to a style Tant01 brought up recently...cant say as i recall the specific art that was being discussed though...Gatka or silat which has 100's of styles both fit that bill though.

      ...............
post # 256 in the MMA board under best street style thread...

There are over 150 offically recognized styles of Silat and and many hundreds of other family, tribe or village styles of fighting arts from Indonesia that all collectivly fall into the Silat umbrella.

To many it is like Kuntao, to others Kung-Fu and some think it's like eskrima or kali and still others think it just a pretty dance...

I think it's like combat Judo with a knife.

Disregard the PM, I was mistaken...

      All the best.
