What do you guys think pf this knife for personal carry??

  • #2
the blade itself is awesome, especially in the fully serrated version. however, both the black and silver versions of the spyderco ATR have steel handles which can be slippery. havent handled it personally. i dont carry knives with steel handles.

the pricetag is kind of high on that model as well. if you got cash to drop on a atr, you may want to consider the spyderco military, paramilitary, chinook, manix, and mini-manix. those are all the high end, heavy duty spydercos.

this site has low prices, the atr is only $99

if you like black blades, you may like the black military.....

this one aint bad either, though inmop the stainless steel fully serrated endura may be the better deal as it costs less and is almost the same size as the police.....

the gunting was a collector spyderco, so their numbers were limited and only a certain amount were made.

spyderco no longer makes butterfly knives, they recently got fined like $70,000 for making and sending butterfly knives to people in the usa.

the ocelot would have been cool, but those paw prints ruin it for me.

the cara carra aint bad for a $20 knife. i have the g-10 version and its pretty big and hefty.

heres some more pics of random spydercos......

I never had much use for a folding knife... And when I did they bit me.

I'll take a fixed blade any day.
                    (and I do)

Any of those would be fine for the tackle box, Somebody likes spider knives?

the only non spydercos i carry are a large cold steel tanto and a bench made mini-grip. other companies knives are bland. spyderco brings originality and integrity to the table. they do so much research on their knives and always strive to improve on what they have. the founder sal is quite active on the spyderco forum at bladeforums and he is a stand up guy. he has sent knives over to our troops free of charge and even created knives to raise cash for 9/11 victims. i pretty much only buy spydercos.

btw, you guys notice the pure destructive potential that emanates from that spyderco kerambit that i posted?
