  • Vital Truths of Edged Weapons Defence - Video

    Greetings All,

If anyone would like a sneak preview of my vital truths of edge weapons defence. Then they can have a look at the one on the Australian Knife Defence Association website.

    The address is: http://www.akda.org.au

The clips were supposed to go up on my site about the same time, but their guys got them up a bit quicker than my guys. If you register for the report you don’t need to register again because the links will be e-mailed to you if they haven’t already.

    Cheers

    Raymond Floro

                Guro Ray,

These videos are great and show the public the reality of edged weapons.

Many martial artists out there truly believe they can defend themselves empty-handed against a knife attack, which makes them have a false sense of confidence that may get them killed!

Your short videos show just how fast and deadly a blade (or a similar type of weapon) can be. I can only hope that these people see your videos and start to understand reality.

I think it is also important to educate law enforcement about what FMA practicioners like us are practicing (assuming they use the Art for self-defense only). I would hate to see a FMA practicioner tried and convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, manslaughter or even murder if he/she was simply trying to defend himself/herself against an attacker. The best example is a woman who is getting attacked by a larger male and uses a knife in her purse to defend herself and the attacker ends up dying from his wounds.

Have you done any of this type of education with law enforcement in Australia and if so, what has been the response?

                  Hi Johnathan,

                  Great to hear from you!

The Australian Military has adopted my material as standard training for their exponents, and the State Police is in the process of doing the same.

So to answer your question. Yes, I have done presentations like this and they really appreciate it.

Here is the link to the sixth clip in the Seven Part Vital Truths of Edged Weapons free video series.

Having viewed this clip again.....I may not have portrayed the "correct" message that I wanted to point out.

I am NOT saying that traditional techniques are worthless. Rather, in training ANY techniques.........make sure you test it out under pressure with full speed and intention. With multiple rapid, powerful strikes in ongoing forward pressure on the part of the attacker.

I think this is the best way to find any "holes" in the defence.

If for any reason you have not already received or haven’t seen the previous clips you can get them by registering here: http://www.florofighting.com

                    Greetings All,

Here is the last clip of the 7 part series.

One thing about the clip that I need to expand on...............the two handed "Baseball bat" grip against the knife hand DOES WORK, providing you execute it properly. The purpose of the demonstration is to show what could happen if you DON'T do it right.

Floro Fighting Systems has been developing an extensive training program that is scheduled for release in the latter part of 2007. We will keep you informed on any new FFS training aids as the information comes to hand.

                    Good fortune with your training,

                    Ray Floro.
