parrying punch into elbow-guard

I remember we had a pretty good ongoing convo about the Coutre hand destruction vs. a punch by lifting your elbow to your parrying hand.

Here's a british stick fighting (doces pares affiliates) that has a good techniques page with illustrated versions of that technique. they seem interesting and worth checking out.

I'm also finding that progressive boxing drills such as Jab-catch-Jab and cross-roll-cross help to get the proper cadence to slip the elbow into the fist considerably..now that we're doing those drills. I posted them on our site, on the techniques page. Link below if you're curious.

      Using gloves

Thanks for the link - it was good to see some variations on the elbow destruction.

My brother and I practiced the elbow technique a bit. We'd have the feeder wear the 16oz gloves that we use for sparring. That way we could put full power into the elbow destruction without the actual destruction. It took a little work to get the feel for the technique, but after that it was fast and powerful!
