  • Kalis Ilustrisimo Seminar June 3, 2001

When It comes to a life or death situation, no other system is more combat proven that Kalis Ilustrisimo. The Ilustrisimo family is both dreaded and respected in the toughest barrios of the Philippines due to the legacy of Masters such as the late Antonio ‘Tatang’ Ilustrisimo, his father Isidro Ilustrisimo, and Uncle Melicio Ilustrisimo.

This family is known for frequently engaging in live blade confrontation and coming out victorious with all limbs accounted for. Despite such an adventurous existence they were still able to pass on due to natural cause.

The current heir to the system is the humble, yet formidable Antonio Diego, who dedicated over 26 years of intensive training under ‘Tatang’. In the early days, in order to obtain advanced techniques, master Diego had to get ‘Tatang’ drunk, resulting in Master Diego being ordered to the kitchen to get a sharp and attack from ‘Tatang’ from various angles. No one other Master Diego can represent Kalis Ilustrisimo in it’s purest.

Master Diego chooses only to have a handful of full time students, and even fewer to represent him.
HANS TAN, is one of the few fortunate enough to be certified by Master Diego. Hans Tan also trained under the late Punong Guro, Edgar Sulite in LAMECO from 1990 to 1997.

This seminar is highly recommended by any martial arts practicioner especially if you have any bladed weapon interest. This seminar will be an eye opener for all Kali Practicioners, see for yourself why several established eskrima schools acknowledge lineage or influence from the Ilustrisimo system. Experience first hand the techniques of Media Fraile, Boca y Lobo, and Warwok. This is no frills Combat Ilustrisimo – expand your arsenal and your mind. Don’t miss this rare opportunity.

Bring sticks, a training blade, workout clothes and an empty cup or an open mind. Hans Tan is in the US only once a year so don’t miss out.

        Hakoko,

There are a couple of people I know of who teach Ilustrisimo style here in Southern California. However, they do not teach the art openly to the public. These guys teach for free if you are fortunate enough to find one of them. They also do not advertise their knowledge in yellow pages or anything like that.

I'm sure there many others out here that teach the system who I do not know, but as far as I know, Hans Tan is the only one on the west coast certified under Tony Diego to teach the art.

If you really wanna learn the style and if you live in Southern California, then it might be a good idea to check out the seminar.

Ilustrisimo is quite different from many other styles, but still the same. Understand?

The system is highly effective, but just because someone knows the techniques, it doesn't mean they can pull it off in a fight. But you should still check it out if you're in southern Cali.

Refer to the address and phone unmber on the flyer for info, or email me at plumador@aol.com, or reply here for more details.

        Thanks for your interest.

Thanks Balisong, I seriously appreciate your help. Does Hans Tan teach here in So. Cali.? Also, do you know if any of these instructors that you know of, ever have openings for new students. I've been searching for instructors in So. Cal. that teach either GM Cabales' Serrada, or Illustrisimo Kali. I have great respect for all FMA's, but my interest lies in these two. If there was any way you could help me out, I would be very grateful. Mahalo
