    Review of…
    COMBINING STICK AND FOOTWORK
    By the Dog Brothers

    Running time: 60 minutes

This tape is a combination of instruction, dialog, and fights. Some of the featured fights have appeared in the first series and the DB “The Gathering” tape. One fight which didn’t appear in their previous tapes features the worst injury ever incurred in their fights. Kinda wish they hadn’t included that one! The instruction covers the material listed on http://www.dogbrothers.com/dbvideos.htm#rcv9

To be honest, I had hoped for more from the instruction. There are a couple gems, and a few things I plan on working on. But, I was hoping for something a little more combative. Since this is an instructional tape, I feel that more time should be devoted to instruction. I feel that the fights should have been used a little more sparingly, and previously featured fights shouldn’t be included unless absolutely needed (don’t want to pay for the same footage twice). I know…. Bitch, bitch, bitch… can’t make some people happy! Regardless…. I would still buy this tape if I had it to do over. The opportunity to study the body mechanics, the previously mentioned gems, and the new fights make it worth the cost of the tape IMO.

    thanks for the review, Kevin.

can you give us some idea of how this tape is different from the footwork tape in DB series #1?

      Different?

      Hi Chop,

The footwork tape in series #1 focused in on footwork, where the focus of this tape is combining stickwork with footwork.... #1 dealt with locomotion, while this tape deals more with applying the offensive/defensive motions of the stick from a mobile base.

      Make sense?
If I can think of a better explanation... I'll post.

        example?

er . . . could you give some kind of example? does it combine triangle-stepping drills with simultaneous hand drills ?

e.g.: male triangle with roof block & #1 strike, or something like that?

            Mr Wisby,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

            >>er . . . could you give some kind of example? does it combine triangle-stepping drills with simultaneous hand drills ?

One example would be the Illustrisimo cross-step and simultaneous hit.

And yes... the tape utilizes variations of triangular footwork with defensive and offensive stickwork. These are done via the two man drill, and the DBMA Seguida #1 (DB offensive sequence).

The tape also gives three different approaches( Top Dog, Salty, & Crafty's) to setting up the knee attack.
