Stickfighting Digest - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stickfighting
The grappling arts imply most fights end up on the ground. The striking arts imply all fights start standing up. The clinching arts imply the clinch can stop the striker from striking, and the grappler from taking it to the ground. The weapon arts imply the they can stop the unarmed man. A complete martial art implies any fight can go anywhere...be ready and able to go everywhere.
Also, if I may.
Stickfighting Digest - http://www.egroups.com/group/stickfighting
A mailing list with the goal of inspiring and promoting the training of Full Contact Stickfighting and/or Fighting Arts. Not to discourage it or anything, but politics and history are not the focus of this digest, just training and questions for those interested in taking their "martial art" into that level.

I gotta say, I like the "franksupply" raw rattan. Much cheaper than finished sticks (<$3 ea.) and pretty decent. Yes, they break down faster than the Kombat Instruments ones (which I really recommend if you want finished ones), but not 3 times faster. MUCH better than even the finished ones from AWMA/Century (nobody here is buying that stuff, are they?)
Plus, they smell almost instantly. We only had 4 people doing flow drills and the TKD owner was wondering what was burning... Good thing there's no smoke alarm in that room...

Conrado Tortal Design Stick Bag
Has anyone seen the Conrado Tortal Stickbag? I saw it featured under the FMA database(Loki Jorgeson's, I believe). It showed pictures of the bag and an e-mail address, but no website and no price. I'm trying to have someone make me a bag like it if I can't get any info on it. It is a bag that rolls open into a mat with pouches. 2 pouches that can hold about 4 sticks, 2 knife pouches that could probably hold more than few Edges2 training blades or rattan olisi palad, and another compartment for video tapes, keys, wallets, etc. It looks very durable, has velcro straps and a buckle for security. One of the nicest bags I've seen, next to the one that I got from Korea for $30. My bag holds 2 fencing mask, 2 macho mask with cage, 2 hockey gloves, 2 sets of vale tudo gloves, 2 boxing gloves(12 oz., I think), 4 elbow pads, 4 knee pads, 5 shin guards, 2 Edges2 training blades, 4 rattan "knives", 1 set of soccer gloves, 2 sets of baseball gloves, 1 pair of WEKAF gloves, and can hold up to 20 sticks(although I've never tried that much), plus has 2 double zippered pockets for tapes, knives, keys, etc., as well as a quick access slide in pouch. This bag is actually big enough to hide a crouching 150 lb. man inside(maybe bigger-again, I've never tried) A friend got the bag on a military trip to Korea, so I wouldn't know how to get another one. Anywayz.
