        Just my opinion

I think that distance has somewhat to do with closing because timing the close at a closer range is quicker. I find that fighting just outside the punches helps me to get inside faster. Also knowing how to work your trapping can help to create an opening. Although if your in the punching range one has to remember the kicking/kneeing as well. This is where good footwork comes into play.

As far as the clinch goes, I am yet to experience or learn alot more at this point. Though I have noticed with the underhook, if your opponent puts his head under your armpit or chest, you can sometimes sneak a headlock or what some might say the glilatine. It sometimes works and then again, you might not secure the choke losing his head totally. Now with the overhook, I can see the headbutts. Thats a good idea because I would like to be more of the aggressor in the stand-up clinch. I've also noticed that some of the advanced grapplers use the term "softing him up". I myself find that so true. I am still to find alot more to learn in this subject, so it is just my opinion. I like the thread though. Keep it going!!!
